Podcast: Bridging TradFi & Crypto

Insights from Franklin Parker CFA Podcast

Friends and associates,

As a regular contributor to CFA’s Enterprising Investor, I keep an eye on what other professionals are writing. Earlier this year, I came across a piece from Franklin Parker, who posed a challenge to the crypto community:

"On behalf of the professional investment community, I am respectfully asking any crypto expert to put together a cogent, coherent concept of how to make buy and sell decisions in a cryptocurrency portfolio."

This resonated with me, so I responded with an article titled "Bitcoin Valuation: 4 Methods." From there, Franklin and I struck up a great conversation, which eventually led to a fascinating podcast episode.

In this episode, we dive deep into some of the most important developments in crypto today, including:

  • Bitcoin’s role as both a store of value and a unit of account

  • The current shift in the global monetary regime

  • How demographic trends are paving the way for constructive regulation

  • The rise of nation-state adoption of cryptocurrencies

  • Why traditional financial institutions are likely to adopt stablecoin infrastructure soon

I believe this conversation will be valuable for anyone navigating the intersection of traditional finance and crypto technology. Whether you're a crypto enthusiast or a finance professional trying to make sense of the space, there’s something in it for you.

For anyone who missed it, start-up unicorn and global payments leader Stripe recently acquired stablecoin company Bridge for $1.1 billion. This move places Stripe alongside PayPal and Block Inc. (formerly Square Inc.)—all of whom have integrated stablecoins into their platforms. The adoption of stablecoins by these major players signals a growing convergence between traditional finance (TradFi) and crypto, setting the stage for broader crypto adoption in the future.

Thank you for your ongoing support, and I hope you enjoy the episode.

P.S. I will be in South Africa in November and December. I look forward to seeing some of you soon
